Ubuntu os on Dell inspiron 1012

Was curious if the new version of Ubuntu os on there website will be compatible on my Dell inspiron 1012.. Since its like 4 years old now wasn't sure if I needed to find a older version of that os... Or if an older version would work better or not.. Any help would appreciate it

Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME Requiements

Minimum System Requirements
1 GHz processor (for example Intel Celeron or better)
1.5 GB RAM (system memory)
7 GB of free hard drive space for installation
Either a CD/DVD drive or a USB port for the installer media
Internet access is helpful (for installing updates during the installation process).

Should be ok with low graphics.

99% certain it will install. Only issue you MAY have is that the newer Ubuntu GUI requires a recent video card, but I am almost certain you can install it using a less demanding GUI graphics mode, and be completely fine.

You can also try MINT.
