well ive dl'd the ubuntu live cd and the kubuntu live cd. tried them both. One of my friends uses UBUNTU and loves it, well on the laptop its taking forever. I know its slow when its running of the cd but i want to install and i click install but it makes the cd spinny tray noise lol but still .. no install anything yet... now wiht KUBUNTU i got it to go and i clicked install and it took me to a command line ... i didnt know what to do from there.. this is my first linux experience not trying to dual boot or anything.... so how do i go about getting it installed? either ubuntu or kubuntu ... im going to do some research but any help would be great thanks , TYYK

Comand line? that does not sound right Kubuntu has a graphical installer you click on the install Icon and away it goes: try these links, they should look somthing similar to what your trying to do.

The specs you gave in your last thread were quite dated so maybe K/Ubunbtu is not the greatest for that machine try looking at DSL, Slackware or Vector links I posted in the last thread.
