ubuntu installation

Well i have split all my hard drives and now i got 4 partitions. Im just wondering how you choose which partition to install ubuntu in. Im confused because its not really straightforward (for me anyway ). Because the first option says something and then that manual install or what ever...wht do i do?

Its been awhile, but I think i tried the manual install and you get to select which partition you would like.

I assume your using the Live cd and not the alternate cd (no gui)
