Ubuntu 8.10 questions

So I made a live boot thing or what ever on a flash drive because I wanted to see the linux thing.... I have never use a linux OS before but I must say that I like it. I do wonder.... I need to use Microsoft Visual Studio 08 for a class... as well as other microsoft software... as well as Adobe Photo Shop CS4... My question is do these programs work in linux?

Nope, MS and Adobe don't make any programs for Linux. You may have some luck with WINE, but it's not for sure.

I researched that on an Ubuntu forums once, and they responded that VMWare was a possible solution.

Virtualizing Windows within Ubuntu is a good solution. The only time I wouldn't recommend this is for gaming purposes where you need strong response times. It seems like virtualized operating systems give a little lag feedback to them versus their native state running.

I haven't done it, but I've seen and heard a lot about it. It's a good option.

Wine is a brilliant program. Made my techincal geniuses. It works with everything I've thrown at it so far, like BF2, fireworks 8 etc. It's your best bet IMO.
