I'm fed up. I simply cannot find a solution to my sound problem. I've decided to switch distros in hopes of being better off.

I'm going to install Fedora. I was thinking that I could simply install this distro over Ubuntu, but now I'm thinking Grub might be effected, and the partition could be damaged.

How should I go about installing this new OS over Ubuntu?

Your help is appreciated.

"Format"?

Meaning delete the partition Ubuntu is installed on? Did that once a long time ago, and Grub wouldn't let me into WinXP. I was thinking I could do this and then insert the WinXP recovery disc, but that seems risky.

Would there happen to be an uninstaller for Ubuntu? Say, I could put the install CD in, reboot, and enter in the uninstall option?

Blizzy,

Just back up your data (on ubuntu system) and install over the top of the Ubuntu install. Fedora will do all the partitioning and everything for you.
