Okay, so I've read a few articles, seems like linux - unix articles are popping up everywhere (or maybe I'm just more award of it now?)

anyway, I'm thinking of adding these 3 sub forum discussions in this forum,

Gnome
Fedora Core 1
Mandrake

What do you think?
Those seem like the most talked about distributions?
Let me know if I'm wrong :)

thanks

PS. read the other sticky to get a sense of what I'm trying to do

I understand what you want to do, but wonder if we shouldnt see what categories the where the questions/answers start to fall in before splitting them up???

<?Start brain dump>

I dont know, just a thought....
Maybe just general categories to start with

Hardware - how do i make xyz work
Software - what do i use do get xyz done
Distributions - koppix or slackware or fedora or makdrake or ??
Installation - How do i dual boot/get by install screens -
FAQ - Gee, what are HOWTOS anyway?

But then when I thinkabout it - what category would the following fallinto?

How do I get on the internet/share with windoze
Mailserver? - you mean I can do that!!!
Okay, now how do I burn a CD?
Run my favorite game?

I have been pondering on this for the past cpl of days i have even been sketching ideas down. Ill check back in a day once i have something worth displaying. But I am interested in this task :D

:)

thanks

its seems like an easy task, until you starting writing it down and testing out the "format".

You always say, "what about this one and that one"
"what happens when some has this question"
"where will XYZ go"
"Crap.... what about this topic"

Trying to find the "best" organization is pretty hard, especially with a broad topic as "COMPUTER Technology"

Anyway--Thanks
Will look forward to seeing your thoughts (and anyone elses)

Maybe a section with links to common distributions .iso page. I see allot of "where can I download X version of linux?"

A section on common Linux commands and what they do.

:)

how about some complete walkthu's on installing and setting up the basics, something even your granma can understand if she ever feels the need to install linux )
