Howdy, I downloaded the live iso of ubuntu (from the official site) ..but when I boot up into it and select start/install it will load the splash screen when the orange bar is bouncing back and fourth, but when it stops bouncing and preceeds to move slowly from left to right it gets stuck at the very end right before it is complete... And nothing happens, my dvdrom gets quite and the green light goes off..

I tried other options, (graphic safe mode, OEM install) but i get he same thing... I made two copies, it happens on both, so its not that.

Hmm, what could it be?

Did you move your mouse at all? I know that when i left my running like that for some reason it went straight to the screensaver, by default a blank screen. Just moving the mouse brought up the desktop.

It sounds Like it either wasn't burned correctly or there is an issue with the .iso
(which does happen occasionally) unfortunatly there is not much you can do about this. you can run an MD5sum check by using the MD5SUM utility Home of the MD5summer

you can try re-burning the .iso or re-downloading it from another source

or you can order a CD from Ubuntu shipit (it's free)

https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

I would then reccomend creating an ISO image of the CD (once it arrives in the mail haha) using LCISO creator:

Cheers,

Check the MD5 sum of it for sure. Now that Jake mentioned it there has been a instance of someone who didnt get the full download. They got all but like 3KB which caused this problem with them as well.
