Ok, A friend of mine had a mini itx mobo and he gave it to me and said, Have fun. Well, I'm going to. I want to get linux on it, Already have, but i was going to buy one of those IDE to CF ssd makers to get a 1gb "kernel holder" is that plauseable? I just want it to hold the boot files? Good idea bad opinions?

Its a good idea. Just buy a high quality CF card as the low ones will not last very long under the intense write/read of an OS.

I was looking at getting an A-Data 4GB 266x speed one. that should definatly get the job done right?

It should. But just as a note: I don't think the converter can utilize the 266X, I'm not sure but that's my thoughts. But you will definitely boot faster than regular drives.
