SCO, who had licensing for Unix, was suing Novell for using Unix code with their development of their own version of Linux, which inadvertently helps every other Linux developer out there due to the open source nature of the coding. SCO was claiming that due to the fact they licensed Unix, that they indeed were entitled to licensing fees of every piece of Linux out there.

To anybody in the IT field, even if you're not into Linux, it's pretty obvious SCO was grabbing for any dollar they could. Ultimately they had no case, due to the fact the type of license they had with Unix did not warrant licensing fees in any way shape or form to them.

They got what they deserved. Nothing.
