For anyone living in the States and attends puvlic schhol, I was wondering if I would be able to run Knoppix Live CD off the scool computers. This is just to test it out. There shouldn't be any problems whatsoever, but I was wondering if anyone had ever done it before me. Also, I was wondering if internet restrictions are based on software in the computer or in the network. And out of curiosity, is it possible to run any network commands off of Knoppix? thanks in advance.

It should work. What kind of restrictions? Our network her at work uses multiple "filters" not just on the PC itself. The routers have ACL's and the firewall has filters, etc.

Restrictions on School computers are both Hardware and software Based, the Software Restrictions would be bypassed with another OS however, restricted websites and Locked ports en such are controled by the schools/districts Firewall/Routers.

I never used Knoppix so I can't answer last question.
