ok im still wanting to run linux on my computer and stuff know my question is like ive since you can put a other harddrive and use it and just which in and out of them i would like to know if this is true how can i do this with my system and want kind of harddrive would i need and how big. thanks.

Probably a normal IDE hard drive. Just install Linux on it and it'll auto detect Windows and you'll get the option at startup of which to use.

Is this what you mean?

yea but what i dont dont know is do i have to get the same brand of harddrive and when i install the hardrive it will be the slave. so when i put the linux install cd can i choose what harddrive i want it in

You can use whatever brand of hard drive you like. It will probably be a slave, but you can set that up however you want. When you are installing Linux, it will give you the option of which hard drive to use.
