Whoa....confusing? Im trying to download the ATI drivers for linux but whenever I try to load up the .run file it says "gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again." ????? And its opening in some text editor D: Can somebody PLEASE clear things up T.T Why does it have to be so confusing

We have a Linux area. Moved post to there. ;)

Linux does use the same installer type packages as Windows. What i do is use EnvyNG. I install that and it updates my drivers for me.

Envy

Check out that page. I have used it in Ubuntu 8.10 so scroll down to where it says for Ubuntu 8.04 and hit the Get it now. The instructions on how to install it are there. It will be something like

Code:
sudo apt-get install envyng-gtk

from the terminal. After that load it up and update your drivers. It has always worked for me.
