guys, i need a modem that has no problems whatsoever running in linux. you guys know of any that works for real???

yep, get a serial modem, one that is external to the pc itself.You will need a serial modem cable to go with it

Ive got some generic one I bought from pcliquidators.com that works fine

http://www.softwareandstuff.com/NET10250.html --> this will work also

http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=EXPRESS56E&cat=MDM -->this should work also

what your looking for is a HARD modem, one that has a chipset that has all the functions built in instead of a soft modem which requires software emulation for drivers, external modems have no choice but to be hard modems usually-->tough to do software emulation over a serial line :)

no i don't want an external modem. so i have to go with the first one, right [intel]. and u've used this one horndude and it worked??

ive never used it, but it will work

write down the model number then surf to redhat.com and look it up in their hardware database.....ya I know your probably not using redhat, doesnt matter, they have a pretty complete hardware listing and if it works there it will work under linux period.
