Hello all. I am working on a project, it's nothing new, but I wanted to grab a minimalist copy of Ubuntu or Ubuntu Server and build it from the ground up strictly with services and apps I specifically need. I want to use XFCE instead of Gnome and KDE. I am doing this project on my main computer. It has 6GB of DDR2 RAM, Phenom 4X CPU and a 128GB Samsung SSD 830.
Instead of doing this directly to my pc, I created a couple of VM's with VBox and have been tinkering around with it for the past couple of days.
I have been searching the web for shell scripts that will help automate the process if possible, even if they require some debugging and this is what I found so far.

Has anybody worked on this type of project before? Anybody feel free to share tips?
