linux internet problem

Yeah, see which option suits you and create a connection. Finally you must have 2 items in the network window , 1 is for the network card and another is for your cable connection. Iam not a linux super geek, iam pretty much new to linux too .....just sharing some info that i know off... ;)

EDIT: If you have any problems, do create a new thread and post your problems. That would be visible to all ot them and easier to solve...btw welcome to TF ;)

as root in a terminal window or console(screen with prompt for text) as root type this :
ifconfig eth0 <unused ip address on your network>
route add default gw <address of router>

do that if the graphical way doesnt work

oh ya, may have to add DNS numbers for host resolution, do that by editing the /et/resolv.conf file, just add a DNS that you know that works outside your LAN

and i will start a new thread for problems in future... i chose to add it here b/c i would have asked the same thing that this was opened with ;) got flamed on other forum for "duplicating" a thread... but will keep in mind and thanks again.
