hello everyone, just wanted to know if it was possible to run windows xp and linux on a toshiba m115 s3094 80 gig hard drive 1gig ram drive.duo core intel? thanks for any replies.
By "80 gig hard drive 1gig hard drive" I assume you mean "80 gig hard drive 1gig memory," and yeah, you could dual boot XP and Linux on it. It will run like a charm.
So what are you trying to do with Linux? Learn it, or do you have a specific Objective in mind eg. running a server. just thought I'd post you some links so you can read up or whatever:
As for choosing a Linux distro I have a few recomendations:
Most of these run as a live CD meaning they run from RAM, just put the CD ROM in you ROM drive boot it up and it runs entirley from RAM and when your done shut the system down, take the CD out and Reboot into your windows system. This is a great way to try Linux without risking anything ie your windows system
This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.
