It's booting from the live cd.

It looks like its going to boot.

Then bang something like this.

Single X windows session. System will shutdown.

root@ttyl:

it shuts down in a couple seconds. I start up and it does the same thing.

Why is it doing this?

I don't know what to do.

It's supposed to work off the live cd.

Nope didn't work. Same thing happened.

The md5 was right and I burnt it at 4x without error.

there are no errors in the boot though. It just says after it completes this operation or something it will shut down. And the screen goes on standby and the computer just sits there so i turn it off and then back on and then the whole thing loops.

Any more suggestions?

Do you have a SATA drive or IDE? I can't boot to Knoppix on my work PC with SATA, but I can with the same disk on a machine with an IDE drive.

That makes no sense, Knoppix doesn't use any harddrives, Knoppix doesn't care. Besides, it works on all my computers w/ SATA, and I can mount the drives as well.

Wait, are you talking about an SATA DVD drive?

This computer only has a cd drive not a dvd drive.

There doesn't appear to be any hardware problems.

There are no errors, it just tells me it's going to shutdown and that's it.

that's why I'm confuzzled
