do you mean installing kde on ubuntu ti turn it into kubuntu ??
If so try installing it you'll have the option of either then.. personally i've found whatever you start with you tend to like best so you'll be favourable towards gnome.
Not neccicarily true, I started with Gnome on Ubuntu 4.10, I now use KDE and much prefer it... that is not to say that Andreas2006 can't choose one or the other, it is personal preference.
Andreas2006,
My advice try em' both see which one you like better.Grab yourself a copy of Kubuntu 6.10 or 6.06. One of the Many uses of a Live CD. The Main difference between KDE and Gnome is that all of the config tools are reconfigured for QT and not GTK.
Also, if you prefer KDE over GNOME and use Ubuntu, then you also have to delete all of GNOME, which just wastes time.
I don't get what there is to like about KDE ... it's so unrefined and ugly. The colour sets are blindingly bright and plasticy. I want to use my computer, I don't want to go to Toys 'R Us...
OK i have a problem with the apt the error response is:
andreas@ubuntu:~$ apt-get install kde
