because i dont want to re install my system after i have all my apache stuff working and the files im working on. And the system its on doenst have a CD burner.

Its just not that convenient.
 
Actually, I believe you can 'sudo apt-get upgrade kubuntu-desktop', which will install KDE and many other aspects of the more KDE-oriented Ubuntu...

(there's probably a way to do that in Synaptic, but when I was an Ubuntu user, I never bothered with it :p)

I'm not sure how it would treat your other settings though...and like any other major upgrade, it could kill things. DON'T DO IT BECAUSE I SAID TO DO IT, but I *THINK* it would work fine, and I'd personally risk it...
