I downloaded a linux .iso and it is compressed do i need to unpackit or just burn the commpresed .iso on a cd to boot.:(

depends...

if the extention is .iso then all you have to do is burn it to a cd...

(I recomend CloneCD - http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html)

if the extention is .zip, .rar, .ace, or something like that use winrar or something to uncompress it...

edit: if you have winrar installed it will show .iso's as compressed files which you can extract...(although not necessary to burn it to a cd...)
but you will need an image writeing software to do it...

otherwise, it's probable that you could extract the files and burn all of those to a cd...

It iz in winrar when i uncopressed the files and burned them to a cd but i cant boot the cd i checked the bios and the boot device is enebled.
when i uncopressed them there was no .iso file.only the compressed file is .iso

linux_inside,

Stupid Question: What burning program are you using, the only infomation you have given us is that it is in WinRAR, and as far as I know it is not a burning program, it is an archiving program

If you are using nero Start smart, you just go to the copy and backup utility, find the file (ISO) you wish to burn, click burn and hey prsto you have yourself a functional Linux CD...

Here is A FREE Iso Burning Tool called Iso recorder power toy you can D/L it from the Link below

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Here is how to burn the ISO

Steps to create a CD if you have installed ISO Recorder Power Toy:

1. Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.
2. Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.
3. Start Windows Explorer.
4. Locate the ISO file, right-click the file name, and then click Copy image to CD to open the ISO Recorder Wizard.
5. Follow the steps in the wizard to write the image to the CD.

Another alternate method:

1. You can also right-click your CD-R drive and choose Copy Image to CD.

2. In the new window browse to the ISO file and click Next.
