I installed Ubuntu, and GRUB didn't add Windows to the list, so I tried editing it myself, but I did it wrong somehow. Now when I try to boot I get an error. Error 17 I believe it says.

I tried to use my Ubuntu live cd to fix it, but I can't seem to mount my partition.

root@ubuntu:/boot # mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/lin/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

Maybe I didn't write it into fstab correctly?

/dev/hda1 /mnt/lin ext2 defaults 0 0

that's what I put into fstab to mount it.

it seems that you put the first partition of the first hdd as where linux is. is that correct? if not tell me which partitions are the OS's installed in and i'll try and write you a grub.conf.

did you try
$ update-grub

it should automatically find all the operating systems and add them to the list.
