^^ haha funny. I came across Linux in 2004 while I was attending TAFE (you call it community college in the states) I started with RH8/RH9/FC and Knoppix I didn't like it at all, tried typing "Linux" Into google Ubuntu came up tried it Loved it

Used Ubuntu for 6 months utill 5.10 came along then tried SUSE that Sucked then tried Mandriva I loved it, Although It was way to bloated so I googled Mandrvia + One CD install and PCLinuxOS came up and I've been using it ever since. I've also tried countless Live CDs (about 40 in fact)

My father was a network engineer for an aluminum company and wanted me to learn Unix. So, I was taught Solaris in the early 1990s and then UnixWare, followed by SCO. (laugh out loud @ SCO... ugh). Anyway, my interest grew with windows alternatives and by that time, Linux was peeking out into the world. I believe that the first Linux distro I learned was Slackware sometime in the mid 90s .. maybe 1996? It was sometime during my senior year which was 95-96...... getting old sucks, I can't remember anything anymore.

I don't remember at all how I found it... I just know that since I started using it like 4-5 years ago it's been by far my favorite OS (mainly ubuntu, but there's a lot of good distros..).

am i the only one who came across it by a joke?

hey its nitestick.. haven't seen you here in a while...

Had to take 12 weeks of Linux class at school. Red Hat. Didn't really learn much about it other than how to write shell scripts. Which I suck at. I wanted to learn about Apache, but we spent all of 2 hours on it and there was only about 2 pages in the textbook about it. So since I didn't get to really do much with Linux, I haven't really used it. I do have Knoppix on live CD and it is pretty fun to mess around with.

"Found' it while I was in school. The eventually had some classes in it.

Had tried installing it and using it many times before giving up and then eventually made myself use it on a full time basis. (at home, at least) Now, I know it pretty well and can hit google for any issues that I have.

yeah i haven't had much time to post lately. i've done a fair bit of forum stalking though just to make sure we haven't been overrun by porn-spam.
