Let me preface this by saying I have 0 Linux experience short of a very limited use of live cd's. I am a complete n00b so please do not bash my ignorance.

It is my attempt to exclusively use Linux for 1 week.

Reason: I want to learn.

Distro of choice: OpenSuse
Desktop: KDE

This post should be my last from a Windows OS for the next week.
Currently the install is taking place on my main rig.

Installation:
So far so good. (once i turned my marvell controller back on in bios so I could use a old 40gb ide drive  )

Hopefully my next post will be from Linux.
:omg:

Sweet! I'm not too big of a fan of KDE, but it's a nice desktop environment. Let us know how it goes

Well here I am and it looks nice.

Dual monitors works just fine.
Can use grub just fine to boot into Win7 (yes I checked first thing. :) )

A bit lost and confused but so far so good.

Having issues with:
finding network shares and a generally good file manager.
need a media player.

Caveat to my use of Windows. When it is time to play some games I will be booting into Windows. Only exception.

Amarok is a very nice media player.

Also, if you didn't know this, do not just delete the Linux partition when you want to uninstall. That gets rid of GRUB. You'd want to do that, then restore to the Windows Boot Manager using your 7 install disc. A friend of mine had a similar problem after uninstalling Ubuntu :p

played with unbuntu in sun micro's virtualbox for a bit

only got as far as browsing in mozilla

didn't figure out how to install anything else:cool:
