ok i dled the latest version of mandrake linux. i burned the file to just a regular cd and tried to boot from it and it would not work. so then i made a bootable cd in nero and put the linux iso file on it and when i booted from it all i got was a dos prompt. is there something i am suppose to type in the prompt or did i do something wrong?

yep, the file you downloaded is an iso, burn it as is, not as data disk but as an image

i just went and did the burn image to disc and tried to boot from the cd and all it does is just goes and loads windows.help!

Not good; the image may be corrupted.

Go to the Mandrake website and find the MD5 checksum for this file.
Then download and run this:
http://ww2.nero.com/us/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

Paste the MD5 checksum number from the website into the "Original MD5 checksum" box in the program. Then find the image on your harddrive (I hope it is still there) and the program will generate a checksum number. If the checksums match, then this is not the problem. If not, you need to download the Mandrake images from another mirror, and burn them to CD and try again.
