I'm most sure this is an issue with Grub2 and not ubuntu when i select ubuntu from the grub2 menu, it has an error that says "no such device" and it also says that "you need to load the kernel first". i've tried to reinstall grub2 with no luck so i don't understand what's going on. i have ubuntu and windows on separate hard drives and i'm guessing that grub2 isn't reading the right UUID for ubuntu. any help would be great! i've had this issue before and I just reinstalled ubuntu but i really don't want to do that now because I just installed it and got it set up exactly the way i want it. i've included an attachment of a pic of the exact message. thanks!

When did this issue start? Did you modify grub or modify partitions in any way?

You can try checking if the grub.cfg is pointing to the correct locations. Its in the /boot folder somewhere. U can try looking at it by booting off a live CD and modifying the files (BTW I think u need root to edit these files)

If Ubuntu is not booting, work through these five steps:
Check for bootable devices.
Is the GRUB bootloader working?
Repair the bootloader menu.
Reinstall Ubuntu.
Replace faulty hardware.
