I'm looking for a good media player, preferably one that has a library and has some nice fearures, like radio streams, for example. I've tried amaroK (really nice, but crashed a lot), Rhythmbox (currently using, but kind of simple), Banshee (pretty much the same as Rhytmbox, but forgot my preferences every day), and Beep Media Player (didn't play all of my files correctly). Any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks,
~Greg

Hey Greg, nice to see you again buddy

What distribution are you using, is it still Ubuntu? if so I think Mplayer

http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html

if using ubuntu look @ the below link, this will tell you how to compile it:

if using KDE based Distributions I reccomend Kaffine:

OR XINE Availiblle for both Gnome and KDE environments

I've Also heard that Automatix runs very nicley on Ubuntu:

Hope this Helps,

Jake

Thanks for the links, Jake. I'm still using Ubuntu and running GNOME, and I actually have Mplayer and Automatix. Xine looks pretty nice, but I was looking for something more along the lines of a 'jukebox' type thing. I don't need it to play videos, Mplayer and Totem work great.

Thanks,
~Greg

Amarok should be fine if you use the gstreamer engine for output, using arts is definitely not recommended. For internet radio the streamtuner/streamripper/xmms combo takes some beating.

I tried using the Gstreamer engine for amaroK, as well as the Xine one, and it still crashed a whole lot. Thanks, I'll look into the streamtuner thing.

i love rhythmbox music player :D

it keeps track of all my music files and everything is just a search away.. it's very simple and nice.. I'm not sure if its popular enough to be installable with automatix, but you can get it easily off apt-get (System -> Administration -> synaptic package manager)

Yeah, I'm using rythmbox right now, but it doesn't always import all of my music or remember what songs I had put into a playlist. All in all, its pretty good, but I'd still like something with a little more features.

I am just a newbie so i dont know how much help i can be!! but i am using kde right now and i am using KAFFEINE to play all my music. Also i would recommend XMMS player . i have tried both these players and i would say that they are quite good!! so good luck!! c ya!!!
