I understand audacity lacks support for pulseaudio, which ubuntu intrepid has implemented successfully as opposed to its previous hardy version... therefore leaving audacity basically... useless to me.

Is there a comparable program, or at least a way to get audacity to play nicely with pulse? I just hear no playback in audacity when it comes to chopping music.

Linux = open source / free
Goldwave = program / 45 dollars

That's a problem.

"Good *free* audacity replacement?"

Isn't Goldwave a Shareware? so you get a trial for 90 days I think

90 days or not, this is a program I've used for years. So an alternative to Audacity would have to hold up to the same standard... and a pay program can't do that for me.
