ok i remade a color.gz and know its working. BUt it asking for disk 3 so i pressed enter. know its asking for 4. I have been just from the 2nd disk been saying yes to it am i doing this right or what. its still on 4 benn like this for 5 min.

is your rootdisk larger than 1.4MB? it may beed to be sliced up with dd to multiple disks... infact as i recall its not install.1...install.x

i dont know that y im asking from the root file i only have the color.gz that what one guy told me all i needed.

color.gz is for older slackware installs. the newer system uses a larger rootdisk that needs to be broken up into 2 1.44 meg images, install.1 and install.2. color.gz is still used as a whole, but only in the boot-cd's initial rootdisk (initrd) just write your kernel to one floppy, install.1 to another, install.2 to a 3rd, and make network.dsk and pcmcia.dsk disks as you need them.
