I currently have windows 2000 installed on my laptop and am looking to duel boot it with red hat linux. The problem is when red hat goes to install there are no partitions available because windows took all of the hard drive. Do I have to erase that windows partition in order to duel boot? I really do not want to wipe my hard drive clean

No, you dont hafta delete the partition, just resize it...

fips is a tool that you can use for this.
partition magic is another tool that can be used for this...
Make sure that you have your data backed up AND CAN READ THE BACKUP....

Be careful when you are installing linux - depending on the type of installl - many distro's delete all non-linux partitions in server type setup... READ THE SCREENS CAREFULLY...
You may want to give koppix a try.. its a distro that boots and runs from cd... You could also install linux in the dos partition until you are ready to get rid of windoze...
