Diablo 2 and Debian Sarge

I'm running debian sarge kernel 2.4 and I currently have sarge's wine installed. When I try to load up the installer I get an error message that says "no program start menu found.".

I tried to download wine 0.9.16 from winehq, and I've compiled it but when I try loading the install.exe up with that I get an error about X11 before the wine program even loads up.

I have no idea where to go from here. Anyone have any ideas?

Wine isn't really optimized for gaming. Cedega (WineX) runs Diablo 2 great, but it's like 5 bucks month or something. Check it out: www.transgaming.com
