Debian - Can't load Gnome

try xf86config or xfree86config or something like that if you install xfree86, linux has more than one X server you can use, xorg and xfree86 are the main ones

you should have to go thru a setup routine which allows you to set video card and monitor and mouse
 
Yes, I ran xf86config and went through the whole config proccess. I just still get the error I stated above.
 
only guess I have left is your system hasnt setup the GUI to run after X is started so it can make a service request to X (error above)

the way this works is when you startx a script runs, it starts X which looks at its config file, and then runs, once its running it then runs the GUI which uses X to work.........all this is done by startx but its 2 programs running, server and client

no clue what you need to fix here, check debians website for a setup tutorial, debian is very well documented
 
Ok will do. You set me in the right direction so I have a better clue of whats going on now. Thanks
