Copy and Paste from Terminal

How do you copy and paste from the terminal to something such as this forum?

shift plus move mouse over text. then click both mouse buttons at same time where you want to paste, and it works across virtual terminals/desktops too, once its in the buffer it stays there till something else replaces it

Or, if your mouse has a middle button, that works instead of clicking both buttons at the same time.
