In almost all cases, it is not impossible to set up your audio in a given distribution if it works in another. Just because it does not automatically set up, does not mean it cannot be done.

Find out what your onboard audio actually is, and look up a guide for it on Google. Such things are usually easy enough to find.
 
All it says in my MOBO manual for the audio is

AC' 97 2.3 Specification Compliant
Supports S/PSIDF output
Onboard Line-in jack, Microphone-in jack, Line-out jack
Supports 6-channel audio (setting via software)
 
I haven't had the time the last couple of days to piddle with it. If it does work then hip hip hoooooooorayyyyyyyyyy...........if it doesn't, maybe I should just bury the computer with a funeral. I'll definitely let'cha know though.
