why should you have to download a whole dvd worth of stuff to install an OS?

netinstall = 100mb

thats ALL you should ever need. there are all sorts of programs on the fedora DVD that most people dont use, why should they have to download them?

besides, thats the LEAST of my concern when someone recommends fedora to an unknowing individual

Fedora core 5 isn't all that bad. I have tried OpenSUSE 10.0 an, yes, yast did still suck. Mandriva is a decent noob distro as well. It is faster and easy to use also. Rpm is slower than some other package systems. Rpm also has more dependency trouble.
