Most of us take it for granted, the speed of which the Linux kernel runs. And considering other factors such as desktop environment, applications auto-starting, among other factors, this is not all that surprising.

But for those who want a better understanding of how performance tracking works with the Linux kernel, using the Phoromatic Tracker is a great tool to demonstrate just how it works.
