So I have my AA in information technology...I have my net + cert..
I work as help desk and been doing so for 4 years.
I am currently taking 2 classes (windows professional and windows server) at my school and plan on taking two more next semester (windows network infrastructure and dir services infrastructure)...
the goal is to take these 4 classes to prep for mcitp

I know the mcitp is going away so should I try for something else
after passing the windows class should I go for that microsoft test?...
my goal is honestly get more educated on servers and move into that direction.... and make more $$

The 70-647 and 70-643 are retiring this year, both are part of the MCITP. Unless you plan on taking those two exams within the next few months i would forgo those certifications. Now with that said, there is some really good material in those books, but the exams are being retired. The market and microsoft is going towards SCCM instead of WSUS for large deployments of software (which was the 70-643).

I would suggest going towards the MCSA Server 2008. It requires the 70-640, 70-642 and 70-646 (both the 640 and 646 are in the MCITP too). From there you can take one exam to get your MCSA Server 2012.

Check out MS's website on this exam and others to see what you want to do
