Wanting to start side repair biz

Hey guys I was just wondering something... I want to start a PC side biz doing upgrades, fixing, setting up networks, servers, for people but I'm trying to decide what I should charge.

I have over 2 years job exp and over 10 years practical with PCs.
A+ and Network+ certs from Comptia.

I was thinking 20 bucks an hour? I want to charge by the hour minimum 20. What do you guys think? Give me some tips thx

I charge $50 an hour but have a friend deal for 50% off or $25 an hour. Most of my clients pay 25 but I have a few at 50. Most businesses charge between $80 and $120 an hour where I live. Make sure and tell everyone what your real hourly rate is and that they are getting a discount. that way if you want to charge more later they know they are still getting a "deal".

yea I was thinking 25 bucks an hour. I'm not trying to make a living doing it. just really making some extra cash

25 is good but... tell them your rate is 50 but you are giving them a deal. If it takes off you can start charging 50 and your first clients will feel good and you will make more money.

Agreed. Look into becoming a Limited Liability Company (LLC). It can save your bacon if you get sued. Also for extra cash I suggest looking into OnForce - The Marketplace For Computer Repair Services & IT Consultants
