Hello. I've heard that taking part in an open source project (such as on sourceForge) can actually count (somewhat) towards programming experience? Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there anything to it?

Thanks!

Yes it most certainly does. I help out at sourceforge and on various other open source projects because it is fun and it looks good on your resume as well. You do need to know how to program to help out so there definitely is something to it. You could also test software if you can't program but that won't really look good on a resume unless you are a software tester.

So if you can program go and help out.

Hi. Do they have some requirement on to what degree of programming skills they need in order to let you help out?

No i don't think so, if you know how to do something then there is nothing stopping you from doing it.
