Certifications?

Can you take any certs online and actually be certified or are the ones like CCNA CCNP CCIE MCSA A+ Network+ and Security+ Oracle etc. I am talking about the certs that actually matter, do you have to take them in person or can you take them online.


P.S. When you register for the test do they teach you or do you have to learn everything on your own before you take the tests?
