Advice on Preparing For Help Desk Classes?

Greetings!
I am enrolled in an "IT/Help Desk/ End User Support" Program at my local Community College. Could I get a little advice on how to get a "head start" on these classes? Should I read some definitions of terms? Read what I can on the most difficult course (which one is the most difficult?) ---

Desktop Client Support
Unix/Linux 1
Microcomputer Applications In Business
