At least it doesn't seem like a widespread problem. The Powercolor and Sapphire ones that were tested were fine, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

Just a matter of those three things.... and two of them are fixed via a simple OC..

I know, its a SWEET card. Is it meant to compete with the 9600 GT's and the 8800 GT's?
With a modest over clock it WILL perform pretty much on par with the 4850's

See thats the thing.

Im pretty sure the shaders are there...just locked within the bios cause all the specs are almost the same and both boards are 110watts, same memory interface and both GDDR3. The same way pixel pipelines used to be locked on the older cards....i think its the same case here and if you got a 4850 bios....i bet you itll run like a 4850.

Yeah I was thinking about that too. That would be kick *** to grab a 4830 for around 120~130$ to get 4850 performance out of it. Wouldn't flashing it with 4850 bios void a warranty or something?

Of course it would. But that's beside the point. The savings you get are awesome. I remember we used to do this with older cards. Like the GeForce 6600
