Default Techie, ha! I have trouble just running itunes

Hi All,

Yea, so I made it all the way through college, 6 years (don't ask) without taking computer science. I use computers everyday - love my iphone btw. I can turn them on, off do a little work on them and etc, but I know enough to know that what I do know about computers is very limited.

So several years ago I bought a Dell Dimension 3000 on their payment plan and ended up sinking a ship full of money into a machine that now probably isn't worth jack. Furthermore last year it got infected and I just unplugged it and left it sitting in the floor. My interest is renewed and now I wnat to tinker with it and build a media PC that is good for gaming if there is such a thing.

I really want for my wife to be able to play the current sims game before the new one comes out.

I look forward to chatting with you guys and becoming more computer savy in the process.

Thanks,
Wes

hello and welcome

my advice with your idea is to just build a totally new computer.

the Dell 3000 is so old, that anymore money you put into it would not be worth it.

you can spend $100 on old technology, get 40% performance (compared to new)
or
you could spend the same $100 on new technology, and get 100% performance
