Hey everyone,

I'm excited to be a part of this forum.

A little about myself, I'm 27 years old and I have a BS in computer science. I pursued finance after college. To say I'm disillusioned with the world of finance (read: equity trading) is an understatement.

I'm now looking to get into IT. I realize that I will have to bridge a sizable gap in order to be competent and employable.

This brings me to why I joined- I was hoping to get advice on pursuing a certification. I am not entirely sure which certification to pursue (.net?, java? visual basic?). Any idea on the stability of these job markets? Have you got other suggestions?

My biggest hobby is chess. I love solving complex problems and the idea of becoming a QA analyst sounds really exciting. Perhaps getting certified in java is a "safe bet"?

Any advice is extremely appreciated over here. For the next 6 months I'm going to be living with my brother and working a not-so-great job to pay the bills while I try to bridge this educational gap.
