Default hello!!

hey guys,

i am jamie. i am currently upgrading my pc. i had a crappy optiplex gx270 with an upgraded gpu. but now i want a gaming pc. especially for crysis and spore (which got setback to 2008!) . this is what i'm getting:

Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI
C2D E6600
500 Gb Samsung HD501LJ
4X Kingston 512 Mb Memory (already got)
Windows Vista+Office 2007 (Already got)

EDIT: oh yeah, i also have an Antec 900 Gamer case.

and can you suggest some mnitors that would be good for gaming but not to expensive

I will also be getting a new gpu. but i will decide that when the pricing for the uk is out for the new 8900 range.

I also have a xbox 360. i love gow and crackdown. used to have a wii but got bored and sold it.

Welcome to TF, Jamie. Sounds like quite an improvement once you get it built.

Here's a suggestion or two:
Why the Fatal1ty board? There are many great boards out there. Check out some of the 680i boards.

Samsung? Look into Seagate or WD.

As for a monitor, the lower the response time, the better. Go for high contrast as well.

Antec 300 Illusion / Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W / EVGA GTX 760 2GB
AMD FX 8320 x8 Black Edition / Gelid Tranquillo / MSI 970A-G43
Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB / Samsung 840 120GB / WD Black 750GB / WD Green 1TB / WD Red 3TB
G.SKILL Ripjaws 2x2GB DDR3 1600 - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2x2GB DDR3 1600
Win7 Ult 64-bit - Func MS3 Mouse - CM Storm QuickFire Rapid Mech Keyboard

The PSU is overkill. Get something cheaper of a good brand. Antec 430w or something.

also, since i see you're going with the Intel route, is the memory you say you already have DDR or DDR2? practically ALL Intel boards require DDR2.
