Hello,

I am working on a paper for my Data Analysis and SQL course. We are required to reach out to technology professionals on a public platform and ask a simple question. If you are interested, please do your best to answer the following question:
Are database skills important for IT professionals in other fields (security, development, programming, etc...)?

I will include the most helpful response in my paper. Thank you in advance for your input.

I'd say Development/Programming are the same thing in your list.

For Dev/Security - yes, database knowledge is extremely important. That's how you store data outside of memory while writing a program. For security it's important because security engineers need to know how to properly secure and test for insecurities in an application's database. Other fields - depends on what you're doing. Sys admins, network engineers, help desk, etc. - not so much. But I'd hope Database Admins/Architects have knowledge/skills in regards to databases.
