This registry hack, more usually applied as part of a group policy, specifies the maximum size that a user's roaming profile can grow to. Should the profile exceed the specified size, the user will be unable to log off until the profile size is reduced. To aid the user, a dialog box is displayed listing files within the profile and allowing the user to delete unwanted items.

To set the maximum roaming profile size:
Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Insert a value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: MaxProfileSize
Value (expressed in kilobytes):
Minimum: 300
Maximum: 4,294,967,295
Default: 30,000
Insert a value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: EnableProfileQuota
Value: 1
