Error:
A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0x80070002 (Error reported in Dell systems using Dell Assistant Software)
Translation:
This error has only been reported on Dell systems using the Dell Assistant software, although it could occur on any computer on which the system drive letter has been changed from the default of C: to something else or if the default security provider has been changed. Microsoft has built-in cryptographic security services that let developers add security to their applications, giving them the ability to encrypt and decrypt data, provide for authentication using digital certificates, digital signatures, and more. There are several different Cryptographic Service Providers available in Windows XP, each providing different cryptographic functionality.
Solution:
Check to see if the system drive letter has been changed. If it has, change it back to C. Click Start, Run, and type regedit in the Open field. Click OK. Find this Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. Click Mounted Devices. Look for \DosDevices\X:, where X is the letter of the system drive. If itÂ’s something other than C:, right-click and select Rename. Change it to \DosDevices\C:. Exit the Windows Registry and restart. If youÂ’re still seeing the error after restarting, restart again in Safe Mode. Click Start and Run and type regedit in the Open field. Click OK and find the following Registry keys:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers

Right-click each and select Delete. Quit the Regedit and restart. The Cryptographic Service Provider will reset to the default.
