I was working on a computer and I was not able to go into the msconfig to see what is starting up . I would type in the RUN box msconfig and it would show up for about a second and then disappear. Same thing with task manager, it would show up for a second and then disappear. I did have the spybot worm and also hacktool.rootkit which I did a norton's anti virus in safe mode and I deleted them from quarantined items.
