playng dvd on cd-rom drives

I've heard that it is posible to play dvd's on a regular CD-ROM drive...... I kinda don't believe it!!!!
Does anyone know something about this ???

no, sorry, but emmynem_2005 is totally correct on this. The difference between normal CD's and DVD's is that normal CD's are in the format of 700 megabytes, whereas DVD's are over a Gig. It's similar to a floppy and a zip drive. The formats are totally different.

most likey they are talking about super VCD. you copy DVD movies using SVCD and play them off CD
