Windows Server 2003 R2 includes an updated management console - Microsoft Management Console 3.0 - that adds a task-based pane on the right hand side of the page. However, by default, MMC 2.0 is still used. This tweak enables the new functionality.
To modify the default install path:
Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MMC
Create a new subkey called UseNewUI
The changes take effect immediately.
